My intent is to try to write up and post a day's journey/activities every evening. Realistically this is not always going to happen. What I didn't expect is that it would not happen on the first day.

Today was one of those days that makes you think about aborting the trip right at the start. This was to be a simple day... get to the storage yard, load the refrigerator with the food that we brought up in a cooler, load clothing and get to Foxboro (or Foxborough depending on who you ask). Once hooked up to water, electric and the sewer, it was our intent to go to Boston (about 30 miles north of the campground) and baby sit for our grandson, Ben, while Carrie and Josh were at a company function. The only thing that happened was the baby sitting.

When we left the storage facility, the first thing we encountered was a detour for construction that closed the exit ramp to Route 17 in Chester. Not a big deal. The problem was that this was the first of many road construction delays that we encountered on the run to Foxboro. Then there was the traffic, especially in Waterbury, CT, which took us 45 minutes to get through (it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes). Altogether it took us at least 25% longer to get here than was expected.

The campground is one of the nicest that we had been seen in the last couple of years. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to see much of it until the next morning. When we had the trailer disconnected and got inside, we discovered that the refrigerator was not working and most of the food that we put in it was spoiled. Next, I noticed water dripping from a place under the trailer where water should not be dripping. It turned out to be the water pump. This meant that we could only put on the water for short bursts, otherwise the water would come into the living area of the trailer. So now I'm writing this after I called the RV Doctor, a local repair facility that makes housecalls. Hopefully, he will be able to fix the problems and we can stick to our schedule. If not... Stay tuned.
